Editor's note -- "Every March, thousands of young, jeans-wearing techies, filmmakers and musicians descend upon @SXSW in Austin, Texas, harboring dreams of getting noticed and hitting it big."
Last year, Third Man Records made Jack White play in a parking lot to introduce their newest recording artist ...
Seasick Steve
This year Jack White plays The Stage On Sixth on Friday, March 16th from 11:45pm - 12:30am without any help from Steve.
Hi Karen ~~ Thank you for the reminder of SXSW. My favorite Austin music is 'Austin City Limits' which has a lot different type of performers. I read up on Jack White and listened to a couple of his numbers playing on YouTube videos. His group's sound reminded me of my son's band, a garage band I call it. Mike plays a pretty mean drum set. They do get a gig for pay now and then at some clubs.
ReplyDeleteOur Karen is the baby of the family and has six to go before 45. We miss them. Montgomery is up and off the freeway north of Houston with a little agricultural activity between us. We also are at the start of the rolling hills while Houston is very flat. But we are included in the Houston Metropolitan area.

Hi Jim ~~ Thank you for your timely reply. I bet you didn't know that Jack White sang for the President and Mrs President at the White House. Not exactly a garage but pretty close. Ha ha. So Karen is 39? Me too. I've been 39 for a couple of years now. Anyway, I've only been to Austin a couple of times but never for SXSW.
DeleteI forgot to tell you I went to a Farm-Aid benefit concert just outside of Austin once. I was backstage and saw John Mellencamp, but not Willie Nelson. And I met Jon Bon Jovi hanging out with my friends in the hotel cocktail lounge. He wasn't a huge rock star then, like he is now. So you tell Mike to keep playing the drums with his band. They could make it big-time one day.
