Walt Disney introduces the Florida Project
PRIME LOCATION -- Walt Disney selected Central Florida near Orlando for his newest theme park, Walt Disney World Resort. The project was shrouded in secrecy until Disney unveiled his plans in fall 1965.

Editor's note -- Also shrouded in secrecy was Walt Disney's role as an F.B.I. informant and
covert employment by the House Un-American Activities
Committee as a spy against Communists in Hollywood.

And he and J. Edgar Hoover belonged to the secret
society of Freemasons, too!

  2. And thank you likewise for your visit.

My friend Tom told me (on Facebook) that he thinks "Disney was the first to conceive the concept of layering in cartoons which is the basis of the computer programs we use to make our videos."

    Good old Walt, indeed!

  3. I always knew Disney was a sort of typical Midwestern conservative--the kind my parents-in-law love. I didn't know he'd let it get so ugly. Blech.

  6. It was the best of times and the worst of times. But not for me. In my mind, Kazan will always direct some of my favorite movies, including the cinematic masterpiece, On the Waterfront.

  7. I know. I like his movies, too. That's what makes his UnAmerican activity so distressing.

  8. Yes, it's unfortunate his HUAC testimony may have caused the Motion Picture Association of America to blacklist the Hollywood 10.
